ZONESCAN HYDRO

CORRELATING NB-IOT LEAK LOGGERS

Network Monitoring

Relies on the same communication and leak detection principles as ZONESCAN AI, but boasts a hydrophone sensor for increased sensitivity and performance – even in the most challenging acoustic environments.

FEATURES

Optimized Installation & Maintenance

ZONESCAN HYDRO offers an easy installation process through the ZONESCAN INSTALL Android app, allowing precise location assignment, activation, and programming. Its ultra-compact size fits any chamber, while features like an improved battery prediction and replaceable sensors for humidity, and temperature ensure reliable maintenance.

High-Precision Leak Detection

Equipped with superior acoustic sensitivity through direct hydrophone measurement, automatic correlation and AI, the logger achieves pinpoint accuracy (≤1m). Provides a large logger spacing (150–350 m)  and an AI-ready leak scoring (with future enhancements enabled by Gutermann’s cloud ecosystem).

Reliable & Advanced NB-IoT Technology

Utilising NB-IoT for underground connectivity, ZONESCAN HYDRO boasts 5+ years of battery life, deep underground coverage without external antennas, remote firmware updates, and efficient daily read rates of ≥95%.

Industry-Leading Cloud Software

ZONESCAN.net integrates geospatial mapping, automatic daily leak correlation, AI-driven analysis, and customisable alerts. Tools for event management, maintenance tracking, and advanced spectrum analysis enhance operational efficiency.

Q&A

When water leaks from a pressurized pipe, acoustic leak noises are generated. Gutermann specializes in the development of highly sensitive Leak Noise Correlators that detect and localize these acoustic signals, pinpointing the exact source of the leak.

Correlators are advanced electronic devices used to pinpoint leaks in pressurized pipes, especially when the approximate leak location is unknown and the distances are relatively large. Two or more sensors are placed in contact with the pipe on either side of the suspected leak. These sensors record and wirelessly transmit the acoustic signals to a processing unit. Using mathematical algorithms, the system analyzes the noise profiles—such as the hissing sound of a leak—by correlating the signals received by both sensors and measuring the time difference it takes for the sound to travel along the pipe to each sensor, thus determining the exact leak location.

GUTERMANN is a pioneer in the development of leak-locating correlators. The AQUASCAN correlator range is renowned for its world-leading sensors, compact and ergonomic design, field durability, and advanced filtering capabilities.

Permanent (or fixed) network monitoring involves the deployment of sensors (loggers) within your water distribution network. These sensors continuously gather data on the pipe network and automatically send leak alarms to the control center for prompt action. The systems can operate as standalone units with their own radio transmission network (e.g., ZONESCAN NBIOT) or be integrated into existing infrastructure, such as large AMI networks (e.g., ZONESCAN AMI).

These loggers not only detect the presence of leaks (through leak noise logging) but also perform leak noise correlation to accurately pinpoint the location of leaks within the network
